Niger Delta Youths Praise NNPC Ltd’s Leadership in Achieving Oil Output Targets

The Niger Delta Youth Congress (NDYC) has expressed its strong commendation for the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) following its achievement of increased crude oil and gas production rates. NNPC Ltd recently announced that production has reached 1.8 million barrels of crude oil per day and 7.4 standard cubic feet of gas per day, a significant milestone aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s energy goals.

NDYC praised the leadership of NNPC Ltd’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mele Kyari, whose strategic direction and commitment have driven this remarkable progress. The organization credited the Production War Room Team, established on June 25, 2024, for its effective role in boosting production and fostering stability. The team’s collaborative work with Joint Venture and Production Sharing Contract partners, alongside security efforts led by the Office of the National Security Adviser, was also recognized for its impact in safeguarding and maximizing Nigeria’s energy resources.

With a target of reaching two million barrels per day by the end of the year, the NDYC pledged to support initiatives that continue to strengthen Nigeria’s energy sector. According to the NDYC, the current production increase is a testament to NNPC Ltd’s commitment to excellence and its role in fueling economic growth.

The NDYC further applauded NNPC Ltd’s recent executive appointments, including Mr. Adedapo Segun as Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Isiyaku Abdullahi as Executive Vice President for Downstream, and Mr. Udobong Ntia as Executive Vice President for Upstream. NDYC believes that these individuals’ experience and leadership will play a vital role in driving NNPC Ltd’s future success.

The council also commended NNPC Ltd’s Board Chairman, Chief Pius Akinyelure, for his support in ensuring NNPC Ltd’s continued financial health and growth. His emphasis on effective cash flow management and operational planning has been instrumental in positioning NNPC Ltd for long-term success.
